Intraarterial Chemoembolization with 5－Fu Bletilla Microspheres in Treatment of Primary Hepatic Carcinoma

ABSTRACT

　　Objective：To investigate the clinical therapeutic effects and complications of 5－Fu bletilla microspheres.

　　methods：Intraarterial chemoembolization was performed with 5－Fu bletilla microspheres in treatment of 32 cases of primary hepatic carcinoma. After treatment，the changes of clinical symptoms，serum AFP，tumor size，survival conditions and side effects were observed. The peripheral serum concentration of 5－Fu was also examined.

　　Results：The overall therapeutic effects were better with symptomatic relief in 87.5％，obvious tumor shrinkage in 62.5％ and serum AFP decrease to normal level or above 50％ in 75％ of patients with hepatic carcinoma. The serum peak concentration of 5－Fu was lower with 20％ of that of control group，the distribution and elimination half times of 5－Fu were prolonged with 3.7 times and 93.8 times of that of control group （P<0.01）. The injury of hepatic function was mild and returned within 1 month， no serious complications occurred. 28 patients with hepatic carcinoma have survived for 6～26 months.

　　Conclusion：5－Fu bletilla microspheres with good vascular embolization，slow－release drug and carrier targeting functions， effective and safe in use，are a kind of ideal chemoembolization agent for hepatic carcinoma.
