Transcatheter Arterial Chemo-embolization in the Treatment of Advanced Breast Cancer: A review of 32 Cases<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

　　Objective: To review the efficacy of transcatheter arterial chemo-embolization (TACE) in the treatment of locally advanced breast cancer. Methods: Thirty-two cases of advanced breast cancer received interventional therapy. Transcatheter arterial infusion (TAI) 8 cases, TAI and transcatheter arterial embolization with Lipiodol and gelatin sponge particles(TAE-GSP) 15 cases, TAI and TAE with adriamycin-dextran microsphere(TAE-MS) 9 cases. 　　
　　Results: According to the efficacy standard for solid tumors, partial response (PR) was resulted in 6 cases, minor response (MR) in 10 cases, no change (NC) in 9 cases, and progressive disease (PD) in 7 cases. The efficacy of simple TAI is poor. TAE in combination with TAI could improve the result, and the efficacy of TAE-MS is a little better than TAE-GSP. The efficacy of latter two groups is significantly superior to that of TAI group (<0.05). Conclusion: TACE is one of the effective methods for advanced breast cancer, and could also be used for the patients with recurrent lesions after operation.
